The name
Douvan means forward

Douvan is a word from French Kwéyòl, meaning forward or ahead. It reflects both our Caribbean roots and our belief that healthcare should help people move forward with greater clarity, confidence and support.
That belief shapes how we care. We bring physician-led medical care to where people are, help them understand what is happening, coordinate what comes next and remain involved as their needs change.

Why Douvan was founded

Dr. D. Malcolm Brewster founded Douvan Health after caring for patients in both hospital and community settings. That experience shaped a practical aim: to make medical care easier to access, with clear advice and thoughtful follow-up.
For some people, that means a single visit. For others, it means regular medical care and help arranging what comes next.
